Researching GPS devices was and is worse than buying a car with all the different product offerings and features plus none of the model numbering seems to make sense which was even more frustrating. You can’t tell a low end unit from a high end unit. Garmin is no different either.

Through all of that I am very pleased that I settled on the Garmin 1450. IMO Garmin has made a wonderful device. The UI is very intuitive and very easy to operate even with my big hands. The touch screen is very accurate and responsive. From power up to satelite acquisiiton takes seconds. The turn by turn instructions are very clear but a bit too chatty. We have found the street name pronunciations fairly entertaining. The points of interest have been pretty accurate as has the gas station mapping and the hospitals and such. The bread and butter of a GPS is really whether it can get you where you need to go especially if you as the operator have no idea. I have travelled outside my area of familiarity a few times now and this GPS receiver has been flawless. The screen size is very nice and easy to read while driving.

This unit I purchased has liftime maps and traffic. So the first thing I did was register the unit and update the maps. The web site is pretty easy to navigate on. The map update was simple but just expect it to take awhile. The traffic portion seems to work however to date it has not offered any alternate routes so I can’t judge its effectiveness. Nor have I tried the blutooth functionality.

This unit comes with everything you need so unless you want extra power cords or something there is no need for anything extra. The window suction cup works well. The unit fell once but I found I did not seat the suction cup very well. They do have a weighted mount that sits on the dashboard which would be better if you have a co-pilot and you need to look for alternate addresses or something. I found putting the unit in the middle of the window creates an annoyingly large blind spot. So I now put it to the left of the steering wheel.

I then debated whether to get the usual shampoo and re shampoo my hair, but thought, no, preserver. I dried my hair off and hit it with the hair dryer and it looked revolting, it looked dirtier than before I shampooed it, it was late and I didn’t have time to re shampoo my hair so I left it, but it felt cleanish. Two days later I tried again with my castile mix shampoo, this time I was able to get a bit of a lather up, the end result was not dissimilar to the first attempt.

At this point I was ready to tip the lot down the sink, but something kept saying to me, don’t give up just yet. The third time I used it, it was like magic, I got a lovely lather up and my hair was like silk when I dried it, and it was so easy to style, no added product needed at all. The shine was amazing and this came from the Apple Cider Vinegar in the final rinse. I found that when I used the vinegar my hair felt like straw and I thought how on earth am I going to comb this out before drying it because I am not using a conditioner. I shouldn’t have worried, there were a few knots, but the comb soon went through them painlessly.

I was at a loss as to why my hair looked like garbage the first two times I used the castile shampoo and then read somewhere that what is happening is the castile shampoo is leaching out all the chemicals in your hair left them from commercial shampoos and once these chemicals are all out everything comes right.

I give my hair two shampoos and do not worry if I do not get a lather up on the first round, I know that the natural shampoo is still cleaning and this is proven when I get a good lather up on the second shampoo. The jojoba keeps the natural oils on the scalp in check and balanced and does not leave any oil residue on the hair shaft but it does moisturize it.

I have noticed that I am not losing as much hair as I was pre castile soap, my hair looks cleaner, feels healthier, to touch it is like touching silk and I am not having to shampoo my hair every second day, I can now get away with three to four days in between.

Would I ever go back to commercial shampoo – No Way. Even the dogs use natural shampoo now, made with castile soap, neem oil and essential oils, their coats are like silk.

Shampoo bars are another alternative and the same as the liquid castile soap, just that the soap has been prepared as a solid bar, great for traveling with. In fact, you could use any castile soap on your hair and finish up with the same result I did. Why not give it a try, stop cleaning your hair with car degreaser, but you have to promise to stick with it, because then you will see the great end result. Also, you will save yourself heaps of money, because liquid castile and shampoo bars will go a lot further than commercial shampoo and conditioner. The final step is to move your legs up once more to 45 degrees from the floor, for another 20 seconds, then rest. Repeat this exercise 3-4 times.

Plank: Lie face down on mat resting on the forearms; place the side of your hands on the floor in a fist shape. Push off the floor, raising your body onto your toes resting on the forearm and elbows. Keep your back flat (like a plank), in a straight line from head to feet. Tilt your pelvis and contract your abdominals to prevent your buttocks from sticking up in the air. Hold for 60 seconds, and repeat for 3-4 sets.
If you are in the gym, using the crunch bench with the crunch techniques explained above is great, you will have excellent abs in no time. Remember to keep going to failure, this technique really does help the abs grow and tone in no time at all.

Crunch Machine: The crunch machine gives the same effect as the crunch bench; however you can add your own weights to it. Always remember when lifting weights, not to over do it. Place a weight on the crunch machine that you can lift comfortably. 20 repetitions should do it, now increase the weight a little. Attempt another set of reps, immediately after the weight increase. This time keep going to failure. After the first set to failure increase the weight again, by this time you should be feeling the burn. Repeat this process for 3-4 set after the initial 20 set warm up.

Leg Raise Apparatus: Assume the leg raise position on the leg raise frame. Start by slowly lifting your knees to your chest; once again repeat this process to failure. Repeat the knee raises for 3-4 sets. Enhance the workout by slowly lifting the legs up in an arcing motion without bending the knee and slowly lowering. Once again repeat this process to failure for 3-4 sets. You can also mix the two leg raise techniques together, by first starting with the knee raise for a warm up set.
